Paavani, Founding Secretary
From early childhood, she has been fascinated by her mysterious natural surroundings, and has actively taken part in climate actions that aim to tackle the onslaught of human excesses on Mother Nature. As young as six, she joined Environment Online 100 Million Trees by 2017 Campaign as a volunteer. She also represented India in Act Now, Environment Online Conference in Finland in 2017 and 2019. She also launched Envirate (a ground breaking mobile app to rate our environment) in India with its Founder, Pekka Harju-Autti, as Dehradun became the first Indian city to be rated for its environment.
Paavani became the first student ambassador appointed for Word Summit of Students for Climate (WSSC) when it was launched at the Embassy of Finland in New Delhi in January 2019 by Ambassador, Nina Vaskunlahti, ENO CEO, Mika Vanhanen and ENO India Coordinator, Rajiv K Shrivastava.
In 2017, on the occasion of Finland’s 100th anniversary, she planted with Sauli Niinistö, President of Finland. In 2019, she was invited as a youth speaker to World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) held in Finland in 2019. WCEF brings together the key stakeholders, the most powerful circular economy thinkers, and doers from around the world.
Apart from being a speaker at many world events, including The POP Movement, Paavani has also conducted a number of environmental workshops for Beauty Pageants such as Miss Multinational, Miss Teen International, Miss Teen Diva, Miss International India and Miss Earth India. As a host and key member of the team, she has organized many successful events including, World’s Largest and Longest 24H long Environment Online Web Event “Peace is Green-Shaping Peace Together” and “Peace is Green-Every Act Matters” that reaches over 100 countries. The events have been graced by graced by Tarja Halonen, Former President of Finland, Tim Christophersen, United Nations Environment Program, Dr Bishwajit Saha, Director of Central Board of Secondary Education, Govt of India. Nigel Topping, UN COP26, Pekka Haavisto, Finnish Foreign Minister, David Jensen, UNEP Head of Peace and Sustainability, Mathis Wackerhagel, President, Global Footprint Network, Peter Hillary, mountaineer and son of legendary Edmund Hillary, Niall Maccan, National Geographic Explorer, Dr Ash Pachaury, Co-Founder, The POP Movement, Jordan Sanchez, Poetess and voice behind UNEP launch video, Sirpa Pietikäinen Member of European Parliament, Lindsey Coffey, Miss Earth 2020, and Jamie Herrel, Miss Earth 2014, Nicole Faria, Miss Earth 2010, among others.
